Daiwa Saltist Star Drag Conventional High Speed Reels are conventional saltwater reels with a higher, 6.4:1 gear ratio capable of retrieving line at impressively quick rate while still having ample drag for taming big fish. They’re built from machined aluminum and anodized for maximum corrosion resistance, making them sturdy, durable, and high performing. The six reels in the series will hold line classes from 12 to 40 pound test monofilament and are strong enough for braided line up to 80 pound test. The lightening-fast retrieve capabilities make this reel great for throwing metal jigs and retrieving them erratically throughout the water column.

Despite the higher gear ratio, the drag system can still apply as much as 22 pounds of pressure to the spool, so you never have to worry about not having enough heft to pull in big fish. Additionally, the true freespool capabilities of this star drag system allows for longer casts under a variety of conditions and uninhibited spool payout is ideal from throwing live bait too.
